Stephanie Valadão is a Toronto-born artist of Portuguese decent. Her digital and hand screen-printed designs, which are influenced by Azulejos (Portuguese ceramic tiles), have a strong focus on geometric shapes and repeated patterns. Recently, her photographs of Toronto architecture have also become an inspiration for her work. Playing with the juxtaposition of vertical and horizontal forms, Stephanie has begun to incorporate both influences in her designs, combining her Portuguese heritage and Canadian roots.Educated in Fashion Arts and Costume Studies for Film and Television at Seneca College, Stephanie has extensive experience in the fashion industry. She is currently a technician and professor at Seneca College in the School of Fashion, where she teaches drawing and illustration.
