Lora Bertolo was raised in Toronto with her Italian immigrant parents. Her interests in textiles started as a child, watching her mom sew. She completed the Fashion Design degree at Toronto Metropolitan University. With years of experience ranging from custom design bridal gowns to producing a knitwear collection, it was in 2020 when completing a Basket Coiling course with Ruth Woods that she found her calling within the textile industry. Coiling supports her values of sustainability and ethical fashion and satisfies her needs as a designer, maker and human. Lora makes functional, fashionable one of a kind bags and baskets using only repurposed materials. She believes the process is therapeutic and the more people that repurpose textiles through coiling the better it is for everyone.
