Fibre FURever: Spinning with Animal Hair
Saturday May 25
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Instructor: Timothy Manalo
Materials Fee: $41.00 (paid to Instructor)
Students: 8
This one-day workshop teaches basic skills in making spun yarn from collected pet hair. This includes dogs, cats, rabbits, and other domesticated animals that yields animal hair at least one inch (1”) in length (you can also use wool for this process if you don’t have access to animal hair). Through hands-on activities, students will learn how to card their animal hair and spin yarn using a drop-spindle. At the end of the workshop, students will have made their own spun yarn that can be used for a variety of textile applications.
