In this intensive workshop, you will learn a variety of French haute couture needlework techniques to create sumptuous embroidery works. The “tissu froissé” with suede, folded ribbon, couching, filling forms with chenille thread and beads, sequins appliqués, and decorative stitches. You will also learn to set up the scroll frame with a silk fabric and work with first quality materials from Europe. The class is open to beginners, but you need to be comfortable with meticulous and precise needlework and working with tiny supplies.

After graduating from the Montreal Center for contemporary textiles in 2014, Tamara fell in love with art embroidery. She trained mainly in Europe, at the renowned Ecole Lesage Paris, at the Royal School of Needlework in London. Living in Spain for two years, she specialized in goldwork techniques in Madrid and Seville whilst collaborating with Spanish fashion designers. Throughout her career, she participated in exhibitions in Montreal, France and Spain. Some of her commissions and collaborations include Cirque du Soleil, Disney, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. In 2019, she founded Studio Textile Montreal, where she offers professional embroidery workshops, produce custom orders for clients, and develop personal work. She also teaches at the Montreal Center for contemporary textiles, and offers workshops in Montréal Museums and cultural centers.
