In this workshop, Miriam Parkman invites you to explore the hand-knotted rya medium and the ways you can create depths, shading and texture using different types of yarn, lengths, densities and colours. With a heavy focus on individual expression and design, the workshop also includes a hands-on sketching technique to understand the cut surface look and layered construction of rya. After your workshop, you will bring a sample(s) home that can be used as a sketch to transfer into a larger weaving or hung on the wall as a small tapestry. Miriam will bring samples of her own work to the workshop and a digital slideshow of larger pieces as inspiration. The workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced weavers alike.
